Gritty, modern day shooter action from Techland’s Call of Juarez range, The Cartel swaps the series’ Wild West roots for a present day crime thriller. It sits in the same space as other story led console FPS games, with a focus on set piece missions, gunfights and a pulpy, TV crime drama tone. Playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility, it is also the Xbox 360 version underneath, so expect older visuals and a more old school feel.
Who will enjoy The Cartel?
If you like linear campaigns with a clear plot hook and plenty of shooting, this fits well. It leans into co op friendly pacing and mission structure, but it is also fine solo if you just want a short, cinematic run through.
