Opera has added a travel eSIM feature inside Opera Browser for Android, putting it in the same space as standalone travel eSIM apps such as Airalo or Holafly. Instead of downloading another app, you can sort your mobile data for trips abroad from within the browser, which suits anyone who wants a simple backup connection for maps, messages and quick searches when WiFi is patchy.
Who is this for?
It makes sense for occasional travellers who want to test eSIM before relying on it, or anyone with a dual SIM phone who prefers to keep their UK SIM active for calls and texts while using a separate data plan overseas. The free trial is a low risk way to check coverage and setup on your handset before buying more data.
- 3 days, 3GB: enough for navigation, booking confirmations and light browsing, but not heavy video streaming.
- In app setup: activation happens within Opera on Android, so there is less account juggling.
