Fast, brutal and unapologetically old school, DOOM (2016) sits in id Software’s modern reboot line-up, competing with the likes of Wolfenstein for pure, momentum-driven FPS action. This Xbox One version also runs on Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility, so you can jump in on newer hardware without changing how the game plays. The big draw here is that it now includes all three premium DLC packs, so you get the full multiplayer map and mode spread rather than a cut-down base release.

Who is this for?

If you want a campaign that rewards constant movement, aggressive weapon swapping and close-range glory kills, this is still one of the cleanest examples of the modern arena-shooter feel. The multiplayer add-ons matter most if you plan to play online, but they also round out the package for completionists.
